LIVESTRONGBLOG.ORG

As we prepare for big things here in Ocean County I am excited to see our own LIVESTRONG Army Ocean County NJ Blog is now a link on LIVESTRONGBLOG.ORG. We will sure make the LAF proud!

Upon my return from next weeks Ride for the Roses weekend (Oct 24-27) I will be going on a media blitz to spread the word on LIVESTRONG Army Ocean County and recruit members. Our primary goals will be:
  1. Educating the Community on the Lance Armstrong Foundation and their mission.
  2. Community Outreach: Recruiting Army Members, Assisting Educational & Support Services and Guest Speaking
  3. Advocacy Local Level: Register to Vote, Learn what our local communities are doing to make cancer a priority. Get to know your elected officials: Town/Boro, County, State and National. 2008 Presidential Election and LIVESTRONG Day Events.
  4. Advocacy National Level: Working with our state congressmen and senators to increase funding for Federal Cancer Survivorship Programs. Increased Access to Quality Care. Reduced Disparities in Treatment (pushing National Call to Action Plan on Cancer Prevention and Survivorship)
  5. Fundraising: Community letter campaigns. Family, friends, coworkers campaigns. Local grassroots events such as dinners, auctions, raffles, comedy shows, BBQs and home parties. LAF Events such as LIVESTRONG Day events, LIVESTRONG Challenge series, LIVESTRONG Army Runners and supporting other cancer organizations locally.
We are already reaching out to all hospitals in Ocean County to start handing our LIVESTRONG Notebooks. Matter of fact when I go for my 4 month check up my urologist Dr. Martin Schor will be getting 20 notebooks to hand out to his patients that have cancer. We will be planning on setting up tents and tables during local community events for the upcoming year. This is an exciting time and I look forward to working with the LAF and the Ocean County area to help make cancer a local and national priority!

LIVESTRONG!
